Verel and social cosmetics: the Itaca Parma project

Verel has collaborated with Progetto Itaca Parma to produce lip balms dedicated to mental health. A concrete example of how contract manufacturing combines with social responsibility.
Cosmetics and social responsibility: Verel alongside Progetto Itaca Parma
Producing quality cosmetics also means applying technical skills and formulation expertise to support initiatives that generate value for the community. This principle guided the collaboration between Verel — an Italian contract manufacturer of skincare, haircare, and oral care — and Fondazione Progetto Itaca Parma, a non-profit organization committed to promoting mental health and fighting stigma.
The project: a lip balm as a tool for awareness
On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, Verel joined members of Club Itaca Parma in an experiential workshop dedicated to creating scented lip balms. A product simple in form, yet rich in meaning: each lip balm made during the workshop became a symbol of a message of self-esteem, awareness, and respect for the individual.
The initiative transformed a production process — normally confined to contract manufacturing plants and laboratories — into a participatory experience, capable of involving vulnerable individuals and giving them a concrete sense of value and agency.
Verel's role: expertise at the service of the community
As a contract manufacturer with extensive experience in developing cosmetic products for private labels and brand owners, Verel provided its formulation knowledge and technical expertise to guide the workshop. This contribution goes beyond the simple supply of raw materials: it represents a transfer of know-how, an opening of the production process to the community.
This ability to adapt cosmetic contract manufacturing expertise to unconventional contexts confirms Verel's approach: a company focused on quality and innovation, which considers corporate social responsibility an integral part of its identity.
The products: available at the Parma Temporary Shop
The lip balms created during the workshop will be available at the Temporary Shop of the Consorzio di Solidarietà Sociale at Euro Torri in Parma, from December 12 to 14. Purchasing these products will directly support the activities of Progetto Itaca Parma: a virtuous cycle where the cosmetic product becomes a tool for inclusion and fundraising for local welfare initiatives.
A collaboration set to grow
The collaboration with Progetto Itaca Parma is not an isolated initiative, but the beginning of a shared journey. Verel intends to continue applying research, expertise, and sensitivity to projects that promote well-being, inclusion, and respect for the individual — confirming how a contract manufacturer can effectively be a strategic partner not only for brands but also for the community in which it operates.
